Blocking Users

Manage Unwanted Interactions

If you're experiencing unwanted interactions from another user on BludImage, blocking them is an effective way to limit their ability to interact with you. This article explains how to block and unblock users, and what happens when you block someone.

1

How to Block a User

There are several ways to block a user:

From a User's Profile

Note: After unblocking someone, you may need to wait 24 hours before you can block them again.

What Happens When You Block Someone

When you block a user on BludImage, the following restrictions are put in place:

For You

  • You won't see their comments on any content
  • You won't receive notifications about their activities
  • Their content won't appear in your feed or search results
  • They cannot send you direct messages
  • You cannot see their profile unless you manually navigate to it

For the Blocked User

  • They won't be notified that you've blocked them
  • They cannot send you direct messages
  • They cannot comment on your images
  • They cannot tag you in comments or posts
  • They can still see your public content, but cannot interact with it

Important Notes

  • Blocking is not completely invisible — a user may realize they've been blocked if they try to interact with you
  • Blocking someone doesn't remove any existing interactions (comments, mentions) that occurred before the block
  • If you're experiencing serious harassment, consider reporting the user in addition to blocking them
  • There is no limit to how many users you can block

Block vs. Mute

BludImage also offers a "mute" option, which is less restrictive than blocking:

Feature Block Mute
Prevents the user from seeing your content No No
Prevents the user from commenting on your content Yes No
Prevents you from seeing their content Yes Yes
Prevents direct messages Yes No
Prevents notifications from them Yes Yes
Can be detected by the other user Possibly No

To mute a user instead of blocking them, follow the same steps but select "Mute User" instead of "Block User" from the dropdown menus.

When to Report Instead of (or in Addition to) Blocking

While blocking is effective for managing your own experience, some situations warrant reporting a user to BludImage's moderation team:

  • The user is harassing multiple people
  • The user is posting illegal content
  • The user has created multiple accounts to circumvent your blocks
  • The user is making threats or engaging in targeted harassment

In these cases, please report the user so our team can take appropriate action.
